White - White signifies a stage of innocence such as that of the novoice student with no prior knowledge of Tae kwon-do.

Yellow - Yellow signifies the earth from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the Tae kwon-do foundaion is being laid.

Green - Green signifies the plants growth as the Tae Kwon-do seeds begins to develop, so the student's skill develops.

Blue - Blue signifies the Heaven towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as the training in Tae Kwon-do progresses.

Red - Red signifies dbager, cautioning the student to exercise self control, and warning the opponent to stay away.

Black - Black is the opposite of white, signifies both aturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon-do. It also symbolises the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear.
